Navigating through O11ySources

Each O11ySource includes the following sections, which together support configuration, data onboarding, monitoring, and analysis.

  1. Getting Started
This section provides essential information to help you understand the O11ySource before configuration. It guides you through enabling the O11ySource, reviewing prerequisites, and preparing the environment for onboarding Source Instances. Use this section to validate compatibility and initiate the setup process.

  2. Sources
The Sources section provides a centralized view for managing all Source Instances associated with the selected O11ySource.

    From this section, you can:

    • Add, import, export, and configure Source Instances
    • Select how Source Instances are managed, such as OmniAgent-based collection, remote collection, or manual setup.
    • View key details, including configuration status and data collection state
    • Perform actions such as edit, clone, download (where applicable), or delete
    • Execute bulk operations for efficient Source Instance management
By centralizing Source Instance management, this section simplifies deployment, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance across environments.
  3. ContextStreams

This section provides a visual representation of how data flows within the selected O11ySource using the ContextStreams module.

It illustrates the end-to-end data journey, including:

    • Input streams receiving data from Source Instances
    • Pipelines that process and enrich the data
    • Output streams and connectors that route data for storage and consumption
ContextStreams helps users understand data processing behavior, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance across the data pipeline.
  4. Storyboards
The Storyboards section provides access to dashboards associated with the selected O11ySource.

These dashboards present curated visualizations that enable:

    • In-depth analysis of observability data
    • Monitoring of trends and system behavior
    • Application of filters to reuse dashboards across multiple O11ySources
This flexibility allows you to tailor visual insights based on context and operational needs.
  5. Alert Rules

The Alert Rules section allows you to view and manage alert rules related to the O11ySource.

It provides a structured approach to configure alerts that:

    • Monitor key metrics and conditions
    • Trigger notifications when thresholds or anomalies are detected
Support proactive issue detection and resolution
This section complements Storyboards by enabling real-time monitoring and operational awareness.
  6. Fields

The Fields section displays a comprehensive list of data fields captured by the O11ySource.

    This information helps you:

    • Understand the available data attributes
    • Build queries, dashboards, and alert rules effectively
    • Customize analysis based on collected fields

Each of these sections plays a critical role in managing an O11ySource and its Source Instances. Together, they enable seamless data onboarding, visibility, and proactive monitoring across your observability ecosystem.
